The seal, promoted by the Provincial Council and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, accredits the work and commitment of the City Council, companies and services in favour of the environmental quality of the destination.

Santa Susanna has been distinguished with a total of 12 Biosphere certifications that accredit the work of the City Council and companies in the tourism sector in favor of the sustainability of the destination. Santa Susanna, in addition to being the first destination chosen by foreign tourists who holiday in the Maresme, is also one of the municipalities that achieves the most Biosphere seals for environmental balance and respect for the territory. In fact, the City Council has long since decided to make sustainability, and especially tourism sustainability, one of the main axes of its political action.

During the Maresme Tourism Day 2025, held at the Municipal Theater of Canet de Mar, on February 25, the Biosphere seal was awarded by the Santa Susanna City Council, Hotel Alegria Caprici Verd, Hotel Alegria Florida Park, Hotel Alegria Mar Mediterrània, Aqua Hotel Aquamarina & Spa, Aqua Hotel Onabrava & Spa, Aqua Hotel "The Breese", Atzavara Hotel & Spa, Hotel Tahití Playa & Suites, Santa Susanna Tourist Office, Levante Beach and Santa Susanna Chic! Apartments.

The Biosphere certification is an initiative promoted by the Barcelona Provincial Council with the support of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce to guarantee the quality and sustainability of tourism services. It is based on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that recognise good tourism practices in terms of climate change and sustainability, and social and cultural returns. The ultimate goal is to extend the culture of sustainable tourism to companies, tourist services and destinations.
