The president of Barça, Joan Laporta, the winners of the Dakar Chalenger, Pau Navarro and Jan Rosa; Espanyol for its 125th anniversary, world, Olympic and Paralympic champions, among others, starred in the event organized by the sports press association and the City Council

Santa Susanna has once again demonstrated its competence when it comes to organizing large-format events. A total of 1200 people have come to the town to attend the XLV National Sports Gala, organized by the Spanish Association of the Sports Press (AEPD) and the City Council, which was held on Monday, April 27 at the Colomer Park Pavilion.

The Gala has made it possible to project Santa Susannamés beyond the region and Catalonia. This time it has been at the national level thanks to the presence of top-level athletes (Olympic and Paralympic or world champions...) and, above all, to the broadcast of the Gala by RTVE through the Teledeporte channel and the RTVE Play platform. the mayor, Joan Campolier, thanked the trust placed in the town and assured that Santa Susanna has experience, but above all it has enthusiasm and ambition to project itself to the world.

This has been the first time that the National Sports Gala has landed in Catalonia. Yes, it had been held in Madrid, Valladolid, Seville, Valencia, Alicante, Zaragoza, Bilbao or San Sebastian to give just a few examples, but never here.

At the Gala, in addition to residents of Santa Susanna who attended, there was a whole stand with 300 local athletes, boys and girls who compete with teams from the town, which symbolized the future of sport. The members of the consistory have also participated, except for the non-attached councilor; the mayors of Calella, Pineda de Mar, Premià de Dalt, San Cebrià de Vallalta, Cabrera de Mar and Torvizcón (Granada); councillors, businessmen and athletes such as swimmers, Gemma Mengual and Mireia Belmonte; the footballers, Juan Mari Bakero, Julio Salinas, Rafa Ballesta, Luís Milla and Rafa Marañón (president of the Espanyol veterans). The president-elect of F.C. Barcelona, Joan Laporta, also attended.

The Gala wanted to recognize the winners of the Dakar 2026 in the Chalenger category, Pau Navarro and Jan Rosa, who are co-sponsored by the Santa Susanna City Council.

The National Sports Gala is one of the most important sports festivals held in Spain and serves for the AEPD to distinguish the best athletes of each year. It has a long tradition, as shown by the fact that this year has been the 45th.

The 62nd Congress of the AEPD is also held

Coinciding with the Gala, the 62nd Congress of the Spanish Sports Press is also held in Santa Susanna. The conclave brings together 300 sports journalists to analyse and discuss the present and future of the profession.
