Santa Susanna Beach is home to the only population of the Mediterranean caper plant (Reseda hookeri) on the Iberian Peninsula, a species from the western Mediterranean (Malta, Italy, France, Algeria...) that was considered extinct in Catalonia until its recent discovery in 2015. Its presence, along with other species typical of coastal sand dunes such as sea jull (Elymus farctus), sea poppy (Glaucium flavum), sea lotus (Lotus creticus), coastal medick (Medicago littoralis), spiny saltwort (Salsola kali), and beach silene (Silene niceensis), not only beautifies the town's beaches but also reveals good environmental quality.
