On Saturday, a thousand people witnessed the open verification of the vehicles and were able to approach renowned drivers such as Nani Roma, Isidre Esteve, Laia Sanz or Nandu Jubany.
The Dakar 2026 caravan has revolutionised the Maresme region. A thousand people from the town and other parts of Catalonia have made their way to Santa Susanna to see and touch the best drivers in the world and their vehicles. The technical and administrative verification phase of the Dakar 2026, an obligatory step before leaving for Saudi Arabia, has made Santa Susanna the center of attention of lovers of the toughest rally in the world and of the curious who have wanted to contemplate the vehicles (motorcycles, motorcycle cars and trucks) that will cross the deserts of Africa, between 3 and 17 January.
A total of 1400 vehicles have come to the town, the 325 that are registered (118 motorcycles and 207 cars and trucks) plus the organization's vehicles and those of replacement in case of breakdowns. But some of the best riders of the moment have also come such as Isidre Esteve, Armand Monleón, Lucas Cruz, Tosha Schareina, Josep Pedró, Miguel Puertas, Gerard Farrés, Nani Roma, Pau Navarro, Carlos Santaolalla, Laia Sanz, Lorenzo Santolino, Javi Vega, Jordi Juvanteny, Ferran "Nandu" Jubany, Eduardo Blanco and Pablo Moreno, as well as the director of the race, David Castera.
The event has raised a lot of expectation among the people but has also received outstanding attention from the media. The verification on Saturday 29 filled the Torrentó de Can Gelat with a thousand people, in an event open to the public that, in addition to seeing the spectacular vehicles up close, was also attended by the drivers. On Friday the 28th, it was the boys and girls of the Santa Susanna schools who had the privilege of seeing the cars and listening to the drivers. The students of the Professional Institute of Equestrian Tourism of the Maresme (IPTEM), the Santa Susanna School (5th and 6th of Primary) and the Montagut School Institute (3rd and 4th of ESO) took a guided tour of the verifications with the pilots Pau Navarro, Joan Font and Josep Pedró.
This event has once again put the town at the epicenter of sport and elite sports tourism at an international level.
